Memory

I got off work one night
The minutes felt like hours
I walked out feeling alright
Nothing could ruin this night
My friends came by to pick me up we had no destination
I hopped into the back seat
No ending to this night I could see
The way we're living these days, we could not forget these times
Makes me think that things will be alright
As the sun sets faster
And the leaves drift down
I wish that things could stay the same just for now
It's not saying goodbye
It's not moving on
These memories will last forever
The best days of our lives
On a weekend in July
There was a party in the bush
I sat around with all the guys
Telling stories by the fire
We walked home along the highway, we didn't mind the trip
Talked life along the way, ready to face a new day
The way we're living these days, we could not forget these times
Makes me think that things will be alright
As the sun sets faster
And the leaves drift down
I wish that things could stay the same just for now
It's not saying goodbye
It's not moving on
These memories will last forever
The best days of our lives

Treading Water

Lately I've been living with a heavy heart
I don't know where to begin
I wish there never was a start
I've been trying to figure out what words to say
I think it's time that I moved on
Oh I'd be lying if I stayed
We've been getting closer to the brink of disaster
And the longer we tread water then we'll only sink faster
No regrets it's time to let go and we'll start to live our lives
We had a good run but we'll say goodbye to the days we left behind.
We've been drifting far apart for quite some time
I can't do this anymore
I can't fake what isn't right
So here I am and there you are stuck in the past
I know it hurts but I will not be your last
We've been getting closer to the brink of disaster
And the longer we tread water then we'll only sink faster
No regrets it's time to let go and we'll start to live our lives
We had a good run but we'll say goodbye to the days we left behind.

True North

I've been down this road so many times
Don't know if I'm on the right one
But if I can stay on my own feet
Then I know this can stand for something
Some say that this is impossible
But I'll make sure to prove you wrong
We'll break through any obstacle
We will tear this down
You will never hold me back
We will soon belong
Fighting to make our change
Starting something new
We will see the dawn
When it is over
I will emerge strong and true
So many places, things I have to see
I've gotta get this figured out now
This is where I'm sure I have to be
I've gotta find a way through somehow
I know that I can reach the end
Nothing here can give me doubt
Once I get around the final bend, you'll know what I'm about
You will never hold me back
We will soon belong
Fighting to make our change
Starting something new
We will see the dawn
When it is over
I will emerge strong and true
I want to know
I have to know
Where I belong
I'll seek the truth
And wonder how
But not for long
We will soon belong
Fighting to make our change
Starting something new
We will see the dawn
When it is over
I will emerge strong and true

Remember ever word you said
We were kids before you left
Oh you swore that you'd come back
I thought I'd be waiting for a month or two
But years went by and where were you?
You're on the move with no time to unpack
Don't give up on the life you left behind
So much has changed but you're still on my mind
Now you're lying on a hotel bed in Bayview
God I wish that there was someway I could save you
When I think of who you used to be I wonder
Where is the kid you were before life pulled you under?
The time has passed but I'm still here
I've learned so much, my eyes have cleared
I see some promises are broken
The past is gone and though it burns
We had it once it won't return
But I'll never give up hoping
Don't give up on the life you left behind
So much has changed but you're still on my mind
Now you're lying on a hotel bed in Bayview
God I wish that there was someway I could save you
When I think of who you used to be I wonder
Where is the kid you were before life pulled you under?
Now you're lying on a hotel bed in Bayview
God I wish that there was someway I could save you
Now you're lying on a hotel bed in Bayview
God I wish that there was someway I could save you
When I think of who you used to be I wonder
Where is the kid you were before life pulled you under?
Now you're lying on a hotel bed in Bayview
God I wish that there was someway I could save you
I remember on that summer day I met you
Out by the water on the docks, that was the real you
